Yes please, pacifier. No thank you, pacifier. Anna can't seem to make up her mind! We do know that we never like the pacifier while she's awake, don't even bother. Sometimes she likes the pacifier to help her get to sleep. Today for instance, she took the pacifier twice. Once for a nap and just a few minutes ago to help her fall asleep. She finished her bottle and still needed something to soothe herself to sleep. Both times today she took it without hesitation and sucked heartily. But then, just before she falls alseep for good, she spits it out and wants nothing more to do with it. Poor used and abused pacifier. Today we had luck with the pacifier. Other days (and most days), if you give her the pacifier she makes a face that says, "What on earth?!" So, it's either "yes please" or "no please". And we'll keep trying, because you never know which one!
What about her thumb, you might ask? Opposite of the pacifier, she'll suck her thumb when she's awake, but never when she's sleepy. Some days she finds her thumb and will suck away. Then other days she seems to forget how again.
Self-soothing isn't one of Anna's strong points! Pacifier? Thumb? Maybe, or maybe not.
Tonight Anna wanted to be held extra long before I put her down to sleep. And I held her happily. Her eyes were shut so tight, so peaceful. I listened to her steady breathing and thought to myself...I will remember this moment. How beautiful my darling Anna was tonight. She's growing up so fast and when she's all grown up, I'll remember my little baby girl on this night. How I held her so close to me and how I thought a million thoughts of
"I love you". Sweet dreams, my Anna.

Laura, you're killing me with these sweet Anna reports. I might have to stop reading them at work. They'll start to say "what's wrong, Anne?" "Oh nothing, just tearing up over the latest baby blog!" MOM
I read these at home 'cause you already got me with the email that Anna was sleeping in her crib for the first time. Thankfully the door to my office was closed.
Today I received your email with new pics of Anna that were the perfect ending to a hectic day. I left my office with a smile on my face [for a change] - all because of Anna. Thanks!!!
I again with Anne, I am misty eyed as well. Thinking thoughts of my two little angels and snuggling with them at night.
Carpe Diem
Ang
